Hi, I'm Alexander. I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy at McGill University. I work on topics at the intersections of normative ethics, metaethics, and the philosophy of emotion. My dissertation brings together issues concerning practical rationality and reasons with issues about the nature of praiseworthiness and blameworthiness. Some of my other recent projects also delve into neighbouring issues in metaphysics and epistemology.
My research is funded by a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Doctoral Fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (2022-2025). I'm also currently working as a Doctoral Fellow with the Groupe de Recherche Interuniversitaire sur la Normativité (GRIN). Before starting at McGill, I completed my MA in philosophy at Wilfrid Laurier University under the supervision of Gary Foster. Before that, I completed my BA in philosophy with distinction at the University of Guelph. I also have a co-authored paper with Neil Campbell that will be published this year in Acta Analytica.
